Vulnerability Assessment for
Dynamic Remote Computers
Because you can't fix what you don't know is
broken...
You've undoubtedly taken great care to protect
your network perimeter through strong firewall protection and security
validation through vulnerability scanning. You've probably also taken
steps to ensure a reasonable level of security behind your firewall on the
internal network. With NetShroud HomeScan, you can now complete the
picture by identifying security holes in the computers of your remote Users.
More than 10,000 vulnerabilities exist today in operating
systems, applications, and network devices. Many of these
vulnerabilities, if left uncontrolled, would enable a hacker or unauthorized
insider to compromise your critical information systems.

NetShroud HomeScan™
NetShroud HomeScan for Nessus is based on NetShroud HomeScan™, exciting
patent-pending technology that enables corporate CIOs and Security
Administrators to identify security holes in the computers of their remote
telecommuters - those who connect to the corporate network through home
office broadband connections. NetShroud HomeScan for Nessus enhances
the capabilities of Nessus, the most widely used vulnerability scanning tool
today.
The NetShroud HomeScan solution is a client-server system which, in addition
to the core ability of point-in-time identification of security holes in
remote scan targets, boasts several advanced features:
|
Remote Management |
The Security Administrator
has full control over the configuration and security policy of remote
clients, including the scan schedule. |
|
Asset Recon™ |
Provides the Security
Administrator with details about the configuration of the remote
computer including RAM, disk space, and installed applications.
For Microsoft based clients, Asset Recon also identifies installed
patch levels for the operating system, browser, mail client, and other
MS applications. |
|
Silent Mode |
Client can be configured to
run automatically without user interaction |
|
Custom Client Look and Feel |
Include your company's name
and logo on the NetShroud client. |
|
Client Platform
Independence |
The Java based client
supports most platforms including Microsoft, MacOS, Linux, and
Solaris. (some features are platform dependent) |
|
Automatic Software Updates |
When new versions of
NetShroud client components are released, the Security Administrator
can instruct deployed clients to update themselves automatically. |
|
Secure Communication |
Communication between the
client and server happens through a secure SSL connection. |
|
Ease of Client Installation
& Use |
Installation is simple:
download the NetShroud client from your server, enter a URL and type
in an activation code. That's it! |
|
Small Client Footprint |
The NetShroud client is
small, both in terms of download size and memory footprint.
Minimal system resources are used. |
The NetShroud
HomeScan server acts as an intermediary between the NetShroud client and the
scanner as well as a robust reporting system for Nessus. The server
enables activation of the client software, authentication of clients to the
scan server, processing client scan requests, remote configuration of the
client, and client license control.
